An Artistic Way to Raise Awareness of TBI

One Denver Options employee took a creative approach to raising awareness of traumatic brain injury (TBI) this summer. TBI Care Coordinator Leigh McHatton came up with the idea of making a TBI-themed art piece at an annual chalk art event in downtown Denver. Leigh had attended the event, called La Piazza dell Arte, in the past and thought it would be a unique forum for raising awareness of TBI.

“One of my goals is to do more community outreach,” Leigh said, “so I asked Denver Options to sponsor me as an artist. The event created a new opportunity to start a dialogue with the community about traumatic brain injury and what services are available to those who have suffered an injury,” she explained.
