Fostering Informative, Educational, Skills Training and Achievement
FIESTA’s mission is to provide a forum for adults and children with developmental disabilities, and their family members to come together on a regular basis to socialize, interact, integrate, develop relationships and/or friendships and learn from mentors, as well as one another. Several years ago, a cooperative group of service agency representatives, community members, Denver Options’ staff, customers and family members began meeting to discuss the lack of opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. Soon after, our small group grew to include over 30 members and the FIESTA Committee was born.
Since that effort was founded, FIESTA has hosted a number of successful events which have given our customers and their family members more opportunities to interact, develop knowledge and learn new skills. Some of these opportunities include:
- Cooking classes
- Dances for people with developmental disabilities
- Activities and support for siblings
- Children’s Museum event
- Voter Education Series
- Healthy Self classes
- Arts and Crafts
- Holiday events
- Self-Advocacy Series
With the support and partnerships within our community, we hope to continue to expand educational and social opportunities for our customers and their families.
Our hope is, that with your support and commitment, we can fill the calendar with a variety of social and educational activities for adults and children who desperately want and need them.
